Terms and Conditions on Loading, Offloading, and Cargo Handling
Msafiri Business & Shipping Solutions Ltd (Chelsea Msafiri) values safety, efficiency, and fairness in all our lake transport operations between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. To ensure smooth operations and protect both the company and our clients, the following terms and conditions shall apply:
1. Timely Offloading of Cargo
All customers are required to offload their goods immediately upon arrival at the docking point. Any delays caused by the customer or their representatives shall attract extra charges to cover additional docking time, labor, and operational costs.
Failure to offload goods promptly may expose the vessel and cargo to changing lake weather conditions, which can result in accidents or losses. To prevent such risks, customers are urged to cooperate and ensure swift offloading upon notification of arrival.
2. Storage of Unclaimed or Delayed Cargo
In cases where the customer fails to offload goods within the advised time, Msafiri Business & Shipping Solutions Ltd reserves the right to offload and store the goods at the company’s designated facility.
All storage fees, handling charges, and labor costs incurred shall be paid in full by the cargo owner before the goods are released.
3. Insurance and Liability
All customers are strongly advised to insure their goods before transportation.
While Msafiri Business & Shipping Solutions Ltd ensures maximum safety and care during loading, transit, and offloading, the company shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or accident resulting from natural conditions, weather changes, or circumstances beyond our control once goods are on board.
4. Customer Responsibility
Customers are expected to provide correct cargo details, ensure the availability of authorized persons to receive goods at the destination, and cooperate fully with our loading and offloading teams to avoid unnecessary delays or losses.
5. Customs Documentation
All customers must ensure that their goods have clear and complete customs documents before loading or offloading. Goods without proper documentation may face clearance delays or legal penalties as required by the customs authorities.
6. Liability for Negligence
Customers shall be responsible for any loss or damage to the company in case the boat capsizes or sustains damage while docked due to failure to offload the goods on time. Such negligence resulting in financial or material loss will be charged to the responsible customer.
